Cancelling your subscription.
How to cancel, what happens to your data, and how to come back later.
How to cancel
Dashboard, Settings, Billing, Cancel subscription.
We don't ask you 14 questions. There's a single confirmation page that shows what happens (your AU number is released, your widget stops loading, etc.) and a Confirm cancel button.
When the cancellation takes effect
End of your current billing cycle. So if you cancel on the 5th and your cycle ends on the 30th, TapText runs normally until the 30th. After that:
- The widget stops loading on your site (404 on the script URL)
- Inbound SMS stops being received (your AU number is released back to the pool)
- The dashboard goes into read-only mode for 30 days so you can export data
Reactivating before the cycle ends
You can un-cancel any time before the cycle end date. Settings, Billing, Restart subscription. No fee, no friction.
What happens after cancellation
For 30 days after the end of your cycle, your account is read-only. You can:
- Log in and view conversations
- Export conversation history (CSV)
- Download invoices
After 30 days of read-only, the account is fully closed. Conversation data is retained for the legal retention period (5 years) for compliance and then permanently deleted. See our privacy policy at taptext.com.au/privacy for the full retention terms. Your AU number is gone after the read-only period.
Cancelling annual
You can cancel an annual plan any time. Service continues to the end of the year you paid for, then doesn't renew. We don't refund unused months, that's the trade-off for the annual discount. See Refund policy for the limited cases where we do refund.
Coming back later
If you sign up again with the same email, we restore:
- Conversation history (if within 5-year retention)
- Saved replies, tags, and settings
We can't restore your old AU number. Once released, it's gone (might be in someone else's hands). You'll pick a new number on signup.
Note. If you're cancelling because something broke, please tell us first. There's a "Tell us why" optional field on the cancel page. We read every one. Some of our best fixes have come from cancellation feedback.
